Las Ferias de Salamanca

so las ferias officially started monday and will go until the 20th or so

on monday night there was an amazing fireworks show
(we totally need to start buying fireworks from italy and get over the china thing)
((also this is like the third or fourth fireworks show ive seen since ive been in spain so i feel less bad about missing the fourth of july fireworks))

there was also a concert of the flamenco pop variety
it was a really famous guy here and EVERYONE in salamanca was in the plaza mayor...literally could not move

after that we went to a bar called cuatro gatos for drinks and tapas
there were about twenty five little old ladies dressed up in traditional feria garb (including gold crowns and all) eating strawberry ice cream and singing feria songs

then tuesday was vírgen de la vega (salamancas patron kind of a thing) so no class / work for anyone!
went to another concert last night...it was of the "we are a band with a keyboard, electric guitar, drum set, tambourine, violin, bagpipe, and square and we like to rock out!" variety
...interesting to say the least

so there are concerts and shows every night
the bullfights have started and will continue for the rest of feria
and there is some kind of large head or something that goes through the streets chasing children
